The European Forum Alpbach (EFA) is a multidisciplinary international conference, held from 1945 in Austria, in a Tyrolean village called Alpbach. Every year in this idyllic village, more than 4000 participants from over 70 countries gather, among which are Nobel Prize winners, politicians, scientists, professors, as well as over 600 young people, Forum scholarship holders.
The main topic of this year's Forum (17 August - 2 September 2016) is "New Enlightenment".
Forum is divided into the Seminar Week (traditionally academic part of the Forum, during which people participate in two out of 16 seminars) and Symposia (legal, economic, technology, political etc.). Parallelly with the Forum, there are summer schools. Apart from the formal programme, the Forum offers a very rich cultural programme.
All students and young people from 18 to 30 years can apply for the scholarships. The scholarships cover the participation fee, while costs of accommodation with breakfast, as well as daily allowance, can be reimbursed through an additional application form.
The applications are sent solely through postal mail, and the application deadline is 31 March 2016.
You can find more information on the Forum and the scholarships here.
